Project objectives

For such a high profile scheme the landscape architect required a signature hard landscaping product to create a clean appearance, look attractive when weathered and also be in keeping with Bristol’s rich heritage. With more than 8,000 square metres of public realm within the development, the product also needed to be suitable for use applications including footways, access roads and car parking.

Charcon solutions

Charcon’s Andover Textured block paving already has a strong and established presence within the Bristol city area and was an obvious choice for the Harbourside scheme. The Silver Grey colour was chosen to provide a clean, contemporary appearance with exposed black and white Cornish aggregate adding texture to the landscape without creating an uneven surface. Charcon also worked closely with the contractor, providing estimated volume detail to ensure that the correct quantities were ordered and delivered according to the construction programme.

“Charcon worked closely with us providing a detailed take off using their CAD services, which led to prompt and timely delivery of the specified product.”
