Brief

Traditional metal warning beacon structures requires replacing every 20-30 years. Charcon was asked to produce a substantial pre-cast concrete base with a life expectancy of at least 50 years.

Sulphur Resistant Pre-cast Concrete Warning Beacon

Solution

Charcon Specialist designed a 3.5 tonne concrete plinth using sulphate resistant cement to withstand the aggressive conditions. Instead of a traditional steel frame, Charcon used plastic fibres for reinforcement making the structure strong and durable.
