Hinckley Town Centre

Regent Street in Hinckley was earmarked as an area for major
regeneration in 2000 following reports that this heavily used route
was associated with high road casualty figures.
The Improvement Project began in 2003 with the aims of both
reducing road traffic accidents and making significant enhancements
to the town centre to attract additional visitors. In moving most
of the vehicular traffic to Regent Street, the intention of the
proposed scheme was to benefit the 7,000 pedestrians visiting the
town centre each day with a much quieter and safer shopping
environment.

Products used:
All products supplied by Charcon not only suited Leicestershire
County Council's strict performance and aesthetic requirements, but
also represented excellent value for money which ensured the
Council was able to undertake the project, from initiation through
to phase three, well within budget.
Woburn block paving was especially selected for its load-bearing
characteristics as well as its attractive appearance, making it
ideal for a high street environment. Moordale flag paving provides
a hard-wearing weathered appearance with appropriate slip
resistance properties. Access Kerb was selected at bus stops to
ensure that passengers with reduced mobility could board buses
without difficulty.
"The blend of products we used from Charcon were selected for a
number of reasons. Not only were we impressed with the capability
of the product but also with the way they blended together to
create a visually attractive and practical shopping
environment."
