Project objectives
Built in 1909, the building was to be carefully and
sympathetically refurbished in the style of a 1930’s station, with
brickwork, colouring, signage, fixtures and fittings chosen to
reflect the era. Now complete and open to the public, it is
operated by Chiltern Railways.
Charcon solutions
- Charcon’s EcoPave flag paving in addition to platform copings
from Charcon’s specialist division, have been used to finish off
the refurbished station to help restore it to its former
glory.
- More than 500 platform copings and almost 3,000 square metres
of custom made 750x600x50mm EcoPave flag paving, both in a black
fleck textured finish, were supplied to Hill Street Construction
for installation on the three platforms of the old station and
their approaches.
“Moor Street is one of the most attractive stations in the UK
and we have had a very favourable reaction from the public since it
reopened last year. Charcon was able to deliver a quality product
which has helped us to create a pleasant environment for our
passengers.”
Mark Cockerill, Project Manager, Chiltern Railways
